fertility
Many women are told that they have what is referred to as "unexplained infertility". Chinese diagnosis can often reveal imbalances in the internal climate that inhibit conception and treatment can often correct these, resulting in a natural conception.
Acupuncture is a tremendous support for women choosing assisted conception, as many recent studies have proven. It is an excellent way to help to cope with the often stressful procedures, and to help balance any side effects of the drug therapy. Acupuncture can greatly improve the chances for a successful conception.
Jani treats all aspects of gynaecological disharmony, from early teens through to menopause.

pregnancy
Jani has undertaken comprehensive obstetric acupuncture training and is able to offer treatment for all aspects of antenatal, labour and postpartum care. Acupuncture is an effective way to deal with the discomforts of pregnancy in the assurance that there are no negative side effects to the baby.
Acupuncture is proven effective in turning breech presentation babies, and for the induction of labour.
Jani specialises in counselling couples pre-labour, teaching techniques to cope with the labour, including acupressure for labour, and she is especially good at coaching Dads on how best to help.
Labour attendance is the very favourite part of her work.

paediatric
From newborn to teenage, for any kind of disorder, acupuncture is a safe and effective way to help children’s bodies to harmonise themselves through strengthening the immune system and treating any presenting symptoms.
Most children do not like needles, but Jani finds that her kids do come back for more; because it’s gentle, it’s fun and it works.
Jani works closely with parents to ensure their children are on the best diet for their condition, as she firmly believes that ‘food is the first medicine’. She also is able to teach parents many useful treatment techniques (not needles!) to use at home.
Because Jani works with many different practitioners she is able to offer an assessment service for parents who are unsure of which therapies might be the most effective for their child, and to help find the best place to start.

The Oxford Practice
Jani's acupuncture practice is located amongst the trees on a hilltop over-looking the dreaming spires of Oxford. The Bell Trees Clinic is a purpose built complementary clinic in idyllic surroundings; easily accessible on the west side of Oxford, just off the A34, outside the hassle of city centre traffic with its own parking and a convenient bus route nearby. There is a lovely sense of tranquillity up here, away from it all, with the wind in the trees and the gentle splash of the fountain providing a calm and restful atmosphere.
Although Jani has specialised in the fields around childbirth, she still has a strong general practice and you are always welcome to contact her for acupuncture treatment for any condition.

The Acupuncture for Childbirth Team
The Acupuncture for Childbirth Team (ACT) is a group of independant practitioners of acupuncture who work together as a team to cover the whole of Oxfordshire County. ACT practitioners all share a particular interest in the use of acupuncture for pregnancy, labour and post-partum care. The aims of ACT are to promote the use of traditional acupuncture, and to increase its availability in pregnancy and childbirth, and in the post-natal period.
As a team, the group are able to establish rota coverage to ensure attendance for labour. Mothers are seen for treatment during pregnancy, allowing for the practitioner to establish a relationship prior to labour. The aim is to be able to provide continuity of care, offering support that allows the labour to progress efficiently from one stage to another, helping the mother to remain calm and focused in order to labour more effectively and as naturally as possible.
All ACT practitioners have had specialist obstetric acupuncture training, with a clear understanding of Western protocols and procedures. Our aim is to offer an integrated service that is a welcome adjunct to the work of midwives and obstetricians.
All practitioners are graduates of UK accredited colleges of traditional acupuncture and are all members of the British Acupuncture Council. ACT practitioners adhere to the highest standards of safe practice, hold full professional indemnity cover and are bound by the BAcC code of conduct.

Seminars and Workshops
Jani is always available for informal workshops to discuss natural and holistic approaches to healthcare, and in particular how acupuncture can help in treatment for fertility, pregnancy and for treating children.
Daytime or evening sessions can be arranged, usually for 2 hours. Gather a group together and call to organise the time and place; at either of Jani's clinics, or around a kitchen table, in a sitting room, or even a picnic in the park... however it suits you, ideally with 6 - 10 people.
Would your nursery or school be interested in organising a talk? Diet is an overriding concern for most parents and Jani is able run sessions to discuss the importance of getting the right foods for the individual, and to help parents learn more about how to ascertain what foods their children really need.

Are you part of an ante-natal group? Would you like to have a session about hollistic approaches to preparing for labour, including acupressure for labour. As above, gather a group and call to arrange a time and place. Jani regularly sees individual couples for coaching if you would prefer a more private approach.

Jani will be speaking at the upcoming conference 'Maternity Care - Naturally' hosted by Midirs (the UK's largest midwifery association) in conjunction with The Prince of Wales Foundation for Integrated Health. She is speaking on behalf of The Acupuncture Childbirth Team about their work in The John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford.
